Hi I wondered if anyone has had extreme side effects with this drug? I have recently been prescribed this alongside my sulf and hydro and it gave me an extreme pressure in my chest and throat - saw the doc and he said that it was unlikley that it was this drug (only new one for ages)??????????????

I haven't had this reaction myself, but of course we are all different. Is it possible for you to ring your clinic and ask for some telephone advice? Love Jeanxxx

I`ve not had this reaction either, so would endorse what Jean has suggested and ring your clinic for advice. Kathleen C x

Hi Steph Not a side effect I have come across with Omeprazole either, nor is it listed as such on the Patient Information Leaflet. It could possibly be that your body has taken a dislike to either sulph or hydro; most of these RA drugs seem to have a limited life as the disease changes its course! Worth asking rheumatology for advice on this one. Good luck Lyn x

Hi Steph
I have had really bad effects from this drug too. I now use Ranitidine instead. It's an old fashioned drugs but doesn't give me any side effects. Omeprozole is the new gold standard... but it wasn't for me!!! I stopped taking them; then my consultant said what about Ranitidine instead? I would ask to try something else instead. All our bodies respond differently to drugs and differently to all the combinations we are all on.

No problem there John. Omeprazole is a stomach protector. often used for stomach ulcers, and as long as you don't have any side effects continue to take them.
